Dear athletes,

We hope you and your loved ones have come through the awkward times of the Covid-19 pandemic healthy and unharmed so far.

A good two weeks ago we announced that we would not simply cancel the Haspa Marathon Hamburg 2020 due to the corona-virus, but would rather postpone the event yet in this year. The reactions of many of you to this were so positive and, in addition to numerous other benevolent signals, have encouraged us to continue to pursue this goal with confidence and energy, even against many imponderables. We are therefore delighted that we have now found a date for the Haspa Marathon Hamburg 2020, with great support from all bodies of the City of Hamburg. This is therefore planned for September 13th.

We are firmly convinced that it is realistic to hold the event at that time, even if the organisational framework conditions, due to the corona epidemic and the knowledge gained up to that point regarding the health protection of participants, will be different from those that have been usual up to now. In the coming weeks and months we will discuss and define preventive measures to be taken with hygiene and health institutions. We also believe that the social significance and role of sport should also be considered at competition level, if not at the moment, then at least in perspective. We would like to contribute to this and hope that you would like to accompany us on this path. Accordingly, we will do everything in our power to organise a worthy, attractive and, in the best sense of the word, unforgettable 35th Haspa Marathon Hamburg for you and all of us.

We will also reopen the registration for the marathon competition shortly.

Yours in sport and stay healthy

Your Haspa Marathon Hamburg Team
